Opening of the 5th Feminist Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Meeting’s theme was ‘Feminism as a transformative movement: assessment and perspectives in Latin America’. About 2,500 women attended the event. Its ground-breaking historic accomplishment was the creation of several Latin American networks focusing on topics such as domestic and sexual violence, decriminalization of abortion, black women and mental health, among others.
