Elza Monnerat at cross party women's demonstration supporting Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, the Frente Brasil Popular (Brazil’s Popular Front - PT, PSB, PCdoB) presidential candidate. Elza Monerat (1913-2004) was a militant for PCB (- Brazilian Communist Party) from 1945 to 1956, when she joined the group that founded PCdoB (Communist Party of Brazil). She went underground after 1964, and went to the Araguaia region in 1967. She was in prison from 1976 to 1979 when she was granted a pardon under the Amnesty Law.
