Demonstrators At The Fourth World Conference On Women
Huairou
1995
View of demonstrators as they march in the rain during the Fourth World Conference on Women, Huairou, Beijing, China, between August 30 and September 8, 1995. One plays a drum (at extreme left), several wear sashes (with untranslated Korean text), and others hold a banner that reads in part 'Punishment to the Criminals of Sexual Slavery by Japan.'
The city of Huairou, located at about 60 km from Beijing, hosted the Non-Governmental Organization World Forum, which took place concomitantly with the official meeting of the World Conference on Women. Over twelve days, more than 30,000 men and women took part in the Forum's activities, which included lectures, debates, workshops, marches and cultural events.
