Took part in this meeting ministers of women’s policies from the five countries of Mercosul: Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Venezuela, and also national authorities, and specialists from the Mechanism to Implement the Belém do Pará Convention. Among several subjects discussed, the participants evaluated the proposal to standardize the public registry of domestic violence against women and the situation of the parliament in the Mercosul.
The Woman of Mercosul Specialised Meeting - REM was created in 1998 to analyze the situation of women in the region, contributing to the social, economical and cultural development of the countries that integrate the Mercosul - Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Venezuela. The meetings of REM happen twice a year and each country occupies the presidency for six months, in a rotative way.
