Plenary Session. Mary Robinson, the UN Commissioner for Human Rights (left), and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, South African Minister for Foreign Affairs and Conference President.  The Conference, held in Durban, between August 31 and September 8, brought together more than 2,500 representatives from 170 countries, including 16 heads of state, about 4,000 representatives of 450 non-governmental organizations and over 1,300 journalists. In all, 18,810 people from all over the world attended the Conference.
