In the foreground, Dulce Accioly (1911-95), born in Belém do Pará, Brazil. In the 1960s she began her feminist activism through the Ministry of Marginalized Women, geared especially to prostitutes. In the 1980s, she participated in the negotiations to establish a police station for women, and for the foundation of the Municipal Council of Women - CMCF of Belém do Pará, which she presided for two consecutive terms. The Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Network against Domestic and Sexual Violence was established in 1990, during the V Feminist Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean, held in San Bernardo, Argentina, and consolidated in August, 1992 at  Olinda, Brazil, with the participation of women's organizations from 21 Latin American countries.
